I was the only family member who didn't have classic artistic talent in her DNA, in spite of being a creative and noticed writer very early. Being art-adjacent, though, I still got a firsthand education in all things art.
Fast forward a few years and technology helped breach the gap between some of my artistic ideas and their execution by my hands. Enter desktop publishing and all the creative layouts I delivered to employers and clients. Then, for me, came accessible computer numerical control, or CNC, and laser engravers and even a powerful router system became my passion.
Sure, I still can't paint that world-changing image that's tugged at my creativity since childhood, but the door is open to SO many more artistic paths.
I'm inspired by people: my husband and 2 adult kids, friends, and even strangers I meet. I'm inspired by my dogs, and others' relationships with their animals. Oh, and the charcuterie platter that popped up on TikTok.
Then there's the sunset that makes me pull over on the highway on many an evening here in North Texas ... and send pictures of it to my contacts.
I guess I'm a kinda happy person and I always seek things that support me being happy. Luckily, that's almost everything around me.
Right now, I'm the student. I'm learning all things CNC router and woodworking, so, no, I'm not teaching others - yet.
